From Kartal to Bosphorus Ink Pendik: Two Ten-Minute Routes

If you live in Kartal and want to come to our Pendik studio, you've got two options. Ten minutes by car along the E-5, fifteen if traffic's heavy. Or one stop on Marmaray — Kartal to Pendik station — exactly five minutes, plus a seven-minute walk to the studio. Which you pick mostly comes down to the time of day.

A few years back, before we opened the second branch, this choice didn't exist. Getting to Beşiktaş meant crossing the bridge, and the time was always unpredictable — sometimes forty minutes, sometimes ninety. Opening Pendik gave Kartal residents a proper choice for the first time: how much time have I got, and which route suits me better right now? The rest of this article is about answering that.

Getting to Your Kartal Tattoo Studio: Car or Marmaray?

The car's advantage is door-to-door. Eight minutes from Cevizli, ten from central Kartal, twelve to fifteen from Yakacık or Soğanlık. Lens Istanbul shopping centre has free covered parking — no hunting for a kerbside spot. On a rainy day you go from car to lift to chair without stepping outside, which matters when you're leaving later with a fresh bandage.

Marmaray's advantage is knowing the time exactly. Five minutes from Kartal station to Pendik station, and traffic can't change that. After five in the afternoon, when the E-5 starts to seize up, Marmaray wins every time. Clients leaving Cevizli office blocks tell us this several times a week.

A simple rule of thumb: car during the daytime and at lunch hour, Marmaray for the evening rush. If you're coming from Soğanlık or Yakacık, the car's lead is larger because there's extra distance to the station. From Cevizli and central Kartal, Marmaray is genuinely practical.

Kartal Tattoo Studio: Client Profiles

Kartal central, Cevizli's plaza economy, Yakacık's family streets, Soğanlık's mid-density housing — four different worlds under one neighbourhood name. Our clients reflect that mix.

Long-time Kartal residents — particularly older clients from central Kartal and Yakacık — come in for black and grey work and cover-ups more than any other type of project. Older tattoos done years ago elsewhere, not done well or no longer meaningful, finally getting reworked. These conversations take time — what the old piece said, what the new one should say.

Younger professionals from Cevizli's office buildings speak a different language. A small fine line on the wrist, a word on the ribs, a minimal symbol on the shoulder. Placements that stay under a shirt and out of office view. Same-day work is common with this group — we've had clients come on a lunch break, get a piece done, head back to their desk afterwards. Not unusual at all.

Yakacık and Soğanlık's family neighbourhoods bring more variety. Adult children getting their first tattoo with us — our first tattoo guide tends to be useful here. Siblings recommending us to each other is a regular pattern in Kartal: one gets a piece they're happy with, the other turns up wanting to work with the same artist.

Kartal Tattoo Studio: Lunch-Break from Cevizli

Cevizli's plaza economy has grown a lot in recent years. We get a regular question from the office blocks along the E-5: can you actually fit a tattoo into a lunch break? In most cases, yes.

Typical flow: 12:30 leave the office, eight minutes to Lens Istanbul. Design already discussed by WhatsApp, drawing ready. Five-minute welcome, forty-minute application for a small fine line piece, five minutes for the bandage and aftercare. 13:30 back in the car, 13:40 at your desk. One hour fifteen total.

That window suits a small piece — a wrist, the inner forearm, the back of the shoulder, the ribs, a single word or a symbol. For a medium-sized design, you want ninety minutes. Anything bigger needs an evening or weekend slot.

Kartal Tattoo Studio: Frequently Asked Questions

We take walk-ins, but a quick WhatsApp first avoids a wasted ten-minute drive. Pendik studio: +90 552 184 07 34. Saturday afternoons are nearly always booked solid; knowing in advance lets you pick a different slot.

Same-day tattoos work fine for small and medium pieces. For realism portraits, full cover-ups, sleeves and other multi-session projects, book at least a week ahead. The consultation is free, and there's no obligation to sit down on the day.

Cash in lira, dollars, euros or pounds; cards from Visa, Mastercard and Amex; bank transfer if you'd rather — we'll send the IBAN. Passport's not required; any ID showing you're over eighteen is fine.

People sometimes ask whether they should come to Polat Tower instead. If you live in Kartal, the answer is clear: no. Crossing the strait takes 45 to 60 minutes; Pendik is ten. The only real exception is the private VIP room, which only exists at Polat Tower. If you want total quiet for the session, the European side is still the choice.

Kartal Tattoo Studio: Aftercare Guide

Full instructions are in our thirty-day aftercare guide; two specifically Kartal points.

The Kartal coast has become a serious walking and running route, all the way from Maltepe through to Pendik. For the first four to six weeks, don't let the tattoo see direct sun — early mornings or evenings in shade are the safe windows. If you're getting tattooed during summer and you walk the coast daily, you might want to push the appointment to early autumn.

The Marmara is off-limits for the first two to three weeks. Kartal Marina, Maltepe's coastal pools, the lot — same rule. If you swim regularly, scheduling your tattoo for the week after a holiday is the easy way to absorb the forced break.

Exercise after a tattoo is a regular question from gym-goers in the Cevizli plazas. Short version: full rest for the first 48 hours, light intensity for the rest of the first week, near-normal in the second. Constant sweat on the tattooed area slows healing — loose clothing and moisture-wicking fabric over the piece during workouts.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is it from Kartal to your Pendik studio?

Ten to twelve minutes by car along the E-5. On Marmaray it's one stop, five minutes flat, plus a five-to-seven-minute walk to the studio. In evening rush, Marmaray always wins.

From Cevizli, what's the most practical route?

Jump on the E-5 and you're at Lens Istanbul in eight to ten minutes. Marmaray would mean getting to Soğanlık station first, which usually isn't worth it. The car wins here.

From Soğanlık or Yakacık?

Twelve to fifteen minutes by E-5 from either. From Soğanlık station, Pendik is one stop on Marmaray; works well in evening traffic.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Yes, but it's worth a WhatsApp first: +90 552 184 07 34. We're nearly always booked on Saturday afternoons; finding out beforehand saves a ten-minute wasted trip.

Same-day tattoos?

Fine for small and medium pieces. For realism portraits, large cover-ups, sleeves and other multi-session work, book at least a week ahead.

Is parking sorted at the Pendik studio?

Free covered parking inside Lens Istanbul. From Kartal, if you're driving in via the E-5, you don't have to look for a street spot.

I work in Cevizli — can I fit a tattoo into my lunch break?

For a small fine line piece or minimal symbol, ninety minutes is enough. Cevizli to Pendik is eight to ten minutes, the application thirty to forty, then a ten-minute drive back. Sort out the design over WhatsApp beforehand and it's tighter still.

Should I consider Polat Tower instead?

If you live in Kartal, no — Pendik is the obvious choice. Crossing to the European side is 45 to 60 minutes; Pendik is ten. The only reason to choose Polat Tower is the private VIP room, which only exists there.

Do I need a passport?

Just any ID confirming you're over eighteen. We don't tattoo under-18s, parental consent or not.

Payment methods?

Cash in TRY, USD, EUR or GBP. Cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express. Bank transfer too — we'll send the IBAN.

What do Kartal clients tend to ask for?

Quite a mix. Long-time Kartal residents lean toward black and grey work and cover-ups. Younger Cevizli office staff want fine line and minimal pieces. Family neighbourhoods around Yakacık and Soğanlık vary.

Hygiene standards?

Single-use needles, autoclave-sterilised equipment, certified inks. Same protocol at both studios; we're happy to walk you through everything in the consultation.
